Ulster Open Success 2013 at Belfast Boat Club

Ulster Open SuccessIt was an Ulster Open Success week for Windsor players at the Ulster Tennis Senior Open held at Belfast Boat Club from 3rd-8th June.

Karola Bejenaru retained her Ulster Ladies Singles title with a 6-2 6-0 win over Ruth Copas, and teamed up with Przemek Stec to take the Mixed Doubles, beating Carlos Miranda and Lynsey McCullough 7-5 6-2. Przemek also completed a Windsor double with Windsor’s Ben Fetherston, as they came through 6-7 7-5 6-2 against Alex Watt and Chris Madden-McKee.

In the Mens Singles B, Jimmy Wilson beat Boat Club’s Damian Earley in the final, while David Harmon was unlucky to lose in a final set tie-break in the final of the Mens C Singles. However David and Feena Toibin were successful in winning the Mixed Doubles C section. In the Ladies C section, Emma Duggan had two good results to win the section, beating Shauna Herron in the final.

There was less representation in the Veterans events than normal, but Willie Caldwell won the Over-45 Mens Doubles, partnering John Maguire from Irvinestown.
