King Arthur reaches 100!

Arthur at 100Arthur at 100

Arthur at 100 – what an amazing achievement eh? To recognise Arthur and all he has put into Windsor Tennis Club we are holding a party for Arthur, at the club house,  from  12:00 on Saturday 5th July.

A small number of his old friends have been invited but we would also like to invite all you Windsor Tennis Club members to come too.

Belfast man Arthur was playing tennis until quite recently. A fall has put him on the sidelines but undeterred he was watching the SuperSet last weekend.  Arthur at 100 is the oldest tennis player in Ireland, featuring in a UTV programme, and also playing with the Lord Mayor of Belfast.

A cake is being baked and there will be tea and sandwiches. We are also going to use the event to announce  the setting up of an annual award. The award is to recognise the  ‘Windsor Volunteer of the Year’.

The award is to be called the ‘Arthur Norris Award’ in recognition of Arthur’s great contribution to the club over many years during which he personified that volunteer spirit which this new award aims to recognise. Radio Ulster will be at the Belfast club as they broadcast their live programme on Saturday.
