Windsor Squash
Windsor enjoys a strong squash club, with an enthusiastic membership enjoying social squash as well as competing in the inter-club Ulster Leagues. The club has always been one of the top representatives competitively over many years, and this has continued to the present where Windsor fields 4 Mens, 1 Ladies and a Masters team.
The club boasts two top-quality courts, one with a glass back, which have in recent years been refurbished to championship standard. Each court is heated using large overhead gas heaters which can be used in conjunction with wall heaters to ensure that the courts are at the optimum temperature for players. There is no charge for the court lights, and booking is via the online Windsor Court Booker .
Windsor has always attracted top-class players, with many of them representing Ulster and Ireland at various levels. At present David Ayerst and Andrew Brown are two of the top players in Ulster, competing in local tournaments and playing on the Ulster team. At veteran level, and until recently the world-record holder for international caps, David Gotto, is still playing at a high level, and is currently captain of the Irish Over 55 team. Fellow members Richard McDowell and George Hewitt are also successful players in the veterans events.
The squash club at Windsor has in recent years played host to the Irish Inter-Bank Squash Championships, and the organisers of this event have always been impressed by the Club’s facilities, so much so that they have selected Windsor as the venue in since 2004.
