C Team set the pace.

With two matches played in the league against Downshire Tennis Club (5-3) and Whitehead Tennis Club  (7-1) the C team remains unbeaten. The highlight from the win against Downshire was the epic comeback in the third set by Emmy Doyle and Trish Neely who came back from 7-3 down, to win the champions tie break and the match.

The preparations for the match in Whitehead were military style with captain Noel ordering the mixed pairs to travel side by side during the long journey, to plan tactics and do some match bonding. Unfortunately one of our players had it in for their partner and left him standing in the car park in Belfast as the  C Team convoy drove off. Was this a subtle way of telling me they wanted a change of playing partner or is the issue more simple that we can not count to 4? Despite the logistical issues, we almost swept the board in windy Whitehead and the evening was brought to a close by a C Team visit to the beech (ed: that’s beAch, Noel) to view the spot where local boy Gordon had his first kiss…….yes there is a plaque but was it Valerie?????. Next up Boat Club away!!!!

A mention should be made of super sub Simon who has played both matches much to the annoyance of D Team member Martin.
Work hard Martin it could be you next year?
